Choosing a hotel room is more than choosing a hotel. Two categories in the same property may differ in beds, floor area, view, stairs and bathroom layout. A clear request protects you from booking a beautiful building that does not suit the way your group needs to sleep.
Separate room count from guest count
For four adults, decide whether you want two double rooms, two twin rooms or another confirmed arrangement. For an odd-numbered group, establish how the remaining guest will be accommodated. Do not assume an extra bed is possible in every category or that a single-use room costs half a double.
Send children's ages as well as the total number of guests. Properties may apply different occupancy and extra-bed rules by age. A cot, sofa bed and full-size bed are different arrangements and should be described accurately.
Request the bed arrangement explicitly
A double bed and two separate beds are not interchangeable for every party. If a particular arrangement is essential, state that before a quote is confirmed. A request recorded in a note is not necessarily a guaranteed room feature.
Connecting rooms also need explicit confirmation. Two rooms in the same property, rooms beside one another and rooms joined by an internal door are three different things. Ask which arrangement is actually available for the dates.
Match photographs to the category
Look for images labelled for the exact room or suite, then check the written description. A property gallery may include several room types, common spaces and the largest suite. It should not be used as proof that the entry-level room has the same terrace or bath.
Ask about the view, outdoor space, air conditioning or heating where relevant, and bathroom privacy. For a medina property, also check the route from the vehicle, stairs to the room and whether luggage assistance is arranged.
Read the meal and cancellation terms
Breakfast included does not automatically include dinner, room service or every drink. Confirm the meal basis and any timing that matters for an early departure. If your schedule makes breakfast difficult, ask what the property can actually provide.
Check the deposit, balance date, cancellation conditions and whether changes in guest count affect the rate. A request remains a request until the property, category, dates and price have been confirmed.
